4th Grade Weekly Communication
A. Class Accomplishments of the Past Week
- Began the school year with introductory activities
- Went over expectations for the new year
- Practiced fire drill
- Introduced books used this year
- Took Spelling Inventory
- Began The Taste of Blackberries as a shared reading
- Had a very nice beginning to the year
B. Insights into this Week's Instruction:
- Begin Place Value and Math Testing
- Discuss Reader's Workshop and Writer's Workshop
- Explain Weekly Reading Log
- Work on English Grammar, specifically types of sentences
- Learn about Classification in Science
- Begin introductory chapter in Social Studies
- Start Band, Chorus, Reading Buddies, and Computer
C. A Parent Activity for the Week:
- Tuesday's Wine Folders need to come back to school the next day. Please sign and date the white paper that will remain in the folder.
- Also, please sign assignment books Monday-Thursday. I usually do not have students bring it home over the weekend. (Sometimes there are exceptions).
- I'll be listing KEY WORDS that will be used during the week. This will help with student's vocabulary. This week's list includes: place value, digit, period, standard form, and expanded form.
- You can always work on Math Facts with your child.
- I enjoyed talking with you at Open House. Thank you for returning all the paperwork so promptly.
