Computer Class

Welcome to Mrs. Slack's Computer Class Page!

My name is Mackenzie Slack and I am greatly looking forward to year two of teaching computer class for SAD 49. Last year was a terrific learning experience for me and over the course of the school year, I have developed a flurry of new ideas for computer lab activities.

Computer class is taught at Clinton Elementary starting from Grade 2 and at Albion Elementary from Grade 1. Students in these classes learn the basic operations and concepts of computer use. This includes the ability to recognize and use basic hardware such as a mouse, keyboard, monitor, and printer in the earliest class levels working up to the ability to perform operations in Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel.

Along the way, students are taught essential computer skills such as mouse control, keyboarding skills, word processing, data entry, ethics of computer use, appropriate internet use and safety, effective searching, email, and a host of other basic computer knowledge that is integral for today's growing dependance on computer technology.

One my tasks for this year is to integrate technology into classroom learning. This may mean that some class activities or projects will be done in conjunction with computer class. The focus of this will be on demonstrating how computer tools can be essential to daily classroom learning. This is thought both to benefit students as well as classroom teachers.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student's computer class, feel free to email me at mslack@msad49.org.
