If you have a CONDITIONAL, TRANSITIONAL and/or TARGETED NEED Certificate,

 

YOU MUST...

 

*Have a Support Mentor that will help you assess your professional skills using the Standards outlined.

*With the help of your Mentor , develop a Teacher Action Plan that defines goals for professional development that are based on this assessment as well as the requirements identified by MDECS.  Your TAP must describe the steps you will take to meet this combined set of goals.

*Include a Timeline.

*Include in your TAP a total of three classroom observations per year by your Mentor .

*Be recommended by the Support System Steering Committee for renewal of your Conditional certificate on an

  annual basis.

*Be recommended for a Professional certificate by the Support System.  This recommendation will be based upon the

  successful completion of the TAP.

*Get prior approval for any coursework workshops or projects.

AND...

 

1.   Your TAP should receive its initial approval no later than Oct. 20 of the first year of your Conditional and or Transitional certificate.  This will allow time for your Mentor and the Steering Committee to make a recommendation to MDECS regarding the requirements for renewal of your conditional certificate.

 

                     2.   The Steering Committee’s recommendation related to initial

                           Professional certification must be submitted to the Commissioner of MDECS no later

                            than April 16 of the year that your TAP is successfully completed.
