THE SUPPORT (SSSC) MENTOR'S RESPONSIBILITIES

SSSC reserves the right to deny a choice if a Support Mentor is
determined too busy; the teacher will be consulted in the new selection.
All assignments in the case of an unforeseen vacancy (leave of absence
from the district, etc.) or an insurmountable personality conflict.
It is the responsibility of the recertifying teacher to appeal to the
SSSC in these instances, stating the
nature of the problem and the action requested.

DUTIES OF SUPPORT MENTORS
1. Attend meetings for support Mentors called by SSSC.
2. Meet with candidate to write Teacher Action plan (TAP). Must be completed by October 20.
3. Meet with candidate for pre observation conference.
4. Observe candidate a minimum of three times each year of plan.
1st time before January 15
2nd observation before February 28
3rd observation before April 2
5. Meet with candidate for post conference.
6. Set up time for further observations, if necessary.

-Classroom Management
-Answering Mentee’s Questions
-On-going Support of the Candidate
8. Support mentors are eligible for payment or recertification credits after acceptance of completed plan by SSSC.
9. A minimum of 22.5 hours per year related to the above duties must be documented.
10. Documentation of mentor’s work must be submitted by April 16 in order to receive payment or credit for the year.
11. If time lines are not met, you and your mentor will be asked to meet with the Certification Committee.
