THE TEACHER ACTION PLAN

*A TEACHER ACTION PLAN (TAP) is the vehicle for planning

continuous professional growth.

*Candidate and Mentor together work on TAP.

*Changes in the plan may be made during the year with approval of Mentor and S.S.S.C.

*A Teacher Action Plan identifies an individual’s goals for professional growth, the steps that will be taken to meet these goals, and the means for determining if the goals have been met.

*Goals for the Teacher Action Plan are based on an assessment of the teacher’s performance in the area of competency.  Areas in most need of improvement are selected to be the focus of the TAP.

*The Teacher Action Plan emphasizes peer observation and support as critical to the process of professional growth.  A minimum of three observations must be completed per school year.

*Successful completion of a Teacher Action Plan is the basis for a certification recommendation.
