Clinton Elementary School Library

Mrs. Buck

I am happy to be working in our school library since 2003. Prior to transferring to the library,

I worked in Special Ed for 18 years.  I live with my husband in Clinton. We have two grown sons and

five grand children.  I love sharing books with them!  Besides reading, I enjoy music and walking.

Schedule: The library is open full time to students and staff. Library time is 30 minutes per week for every class.

Curriculum: Grades K-3 are read to each week and sometimes have mini library skills lessons as well. Grades 4-6 have brief library skills lessons and are sometimes read poetry, short stories etc. This year grades 4-6 have learned how to search for books using the computers. Grade 3 will also be learning this skill the second half of the year. The students have grasped this skill very readily and enjoy it.

Library Rules: Students in K-2 check out one book weekly and should return it the following week. Students in grades 3-6 may check out two books weekly. Books may be kept a second week if necessary. Books not returned at the end of two weeks are overdue.

Library Books: Our library has over 11,000 books and is growing. New books have been added this school year in all different genres and more will be purchased. I am working on getting more current fiction titles as well as adding more in the subject areas to support the curriculum. If you have any concerns or requests for titles that you would like to see added please let me know.

Special Events: Our school has two book fair weeks per year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring usually in conjunction with Parent/Teacher conferences.

I am enjoying working in the library and look forward to making some positive changes in the future.

Interesting library links!
