Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff,
For your awareness, in the state’s color coded County Risk Levels for Maine Schools, Somerset County is now designated Yellow. This categorization system is solely for the purpose of informing decisions regarding pre-K to adult public education. A “yellow” designation means that schools in Somerset County have an elevated risk of COVID-19 spread.
Though MSAD 49 is using a hybrid cohort model during our school days, this designation impacts after-school activities at our Fairfield schools. This means that until further notice, all athletic practices, competitions, and co-curricular activities at Lawrence High School and Lawrence Junior High School will no longer occur in person. We will update you when the situation changes.
We appreciate your efforts and patience as we work through the challenges of COVID-19. We continue to do all that we can to support our students and their families, and our staff through this pandemic. I do know that our collective efforts each day make a positive difference.
Stay safe and be well.
Superintendent of Schools
