Dear Staff, Students, and Families,
I am writing to inform you of another positive case of COVID-19 at Benton Elementary School that was confirmed today. Principal Wedge was in contact with the Maine DOE, and I have notified the Maine CDC. In addition to the individual testing positive, this case involves two staff members and eight students. Those individuals were notified today of their exposure. We are informing the school community for your awareness, and to clarify information we have at this time for those associated with Benton Elementary School. We will continue to provide timely updates to staff, students and families as frequently as needed.
Again, we appreciate families and staff immediately informing the school when an individual receives notification of a positive result. Please continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.
As a reminder, tomorrow is an in-service day for teachers—both remote and in-person learning will not be in session on Monday, December 14. Thank you for your understanding and support of our students as we work together to navigate this unknown path of public education in a pandemic.
Stay safe and be well.
