COVID-19 Update January 4, 2021

January 4, 2021

Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

I am writing to inform you of 2 positive cases of COVID-19 at Lawrence High School and one case at Clinton Elementary School that were reported to me today.  School Nurses Deanna Turlo and Natasha Barton were in contact with the Maine DOE, and I have notified the Maine CDC. In addition to the individuals testing positive, these cases involve four staff members and twenty-six students at the high school. School staff notified those individuals today. We are informing the school community for your awareness, and to clarify information we have at this time for those associated with Lawrence High School and Clinton Elementary School. Fortunately, the holiday break has provided time for the quarantine period to have minimal impact on the schools due to the closure of our building.

Again, we appreciate families and staff immediately informing the school when an individual receives notification of a positive result. Please continue to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.

Our health and safety procedures remain in effect as our priority is the safety of all. We will continue to update the community on the number of positive cases in our schools as these numbers may impact our ability to sufficiently staff the buildings and adequately supervise our students. Thank you for your vigilance in assisting the schools and your support of our students.

Stay safe and be well.

Roberta Hersom

Superintendent of Schools
