Dear Staff, Students, and Families,
I am writing to inform you of a positive case of COVID-19 at Lawrence High School and two positive cases at Fairfield Primary School. The Maine DOE and the Maine CDC have been notified. Close contacts have been identified and school staff are notifying those individuals of their need to quarantine. The high school exposure involves eight students and eleven staff members (including four transportation staff) identified as close contacts, and has the capacity to remain open. However, eleven staff members and sixteen students are identified as close contacts at Fairfield Primary School. With the number of staff involved, Kindergarten sessions will be remote through Thursday, April 1. Childcare and Pre-K will remain open and in-person as those programs have staffing capacity to remain operational. We will complete a thorough environmental cleaning of the facilities and school will reopen for Kindergarten on Friday, April 2.
We are notifying the community in an effort to keep those associated with Lawrence High School and Fairfield Primary School informed and to clarify the information we have at this time. Please continue to monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation and continued vigilance.
Stay safe and be well.
Superintendent of Schools
