COVID-19 Update

September 14, 2021

 Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

I was informed by the Maine CDC that Lawrence High School has met the threshold for outbreak, as defined by the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention Division of Disease Surveillance. At this time, the CDC’s Outbreak Investigator, in accordance with the agency’s Standard Operating Procedure does not recommend closure of the school nor suspension of extra-curricular activities.  This evening I also received notice of an additional  positive case of COVID-19 at Lawrence High School with thirty-four students needing to quarantine, one positive case at Lawrence Junior High School with no students or staff needing to quarantine, and two more positive cases at Benton Elementary School with five students needing to quarantine. Environmental cleaning is scheduled, and we will continue to monitor the health environment.

We are notifying the community in an effort to keep those associated with LHS, LJHS and Benton Elementary School informed, and to clarify the information we have at this time.

Please continue to monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.

As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation and continued vigilance.

 Roberta Hersom

Superintendent of Schools
