My Dear Parents and Guardians,
February is already approaching, and our winter break begins so soon!
Several of our days in January have been below 10 degrees and the “feels like” temperature (because of the wind) has made it too cold to go outside! When it is too cold to go outside our students do have their recess inside. They play indoor games and still have free time fun!
Our K-2 students have been hard at work completing the NWEA assessments. The testing window will close on February 13th. This is the first time our kindergarten students are working on this online test in reading, math and reading fluency. So, for our k students it is a baseline or beginning for them. The NWEA test is a great way for our school to watch our students grow academically over time as it is the common assessment used from kindergarten (onward) through high school. It is a nationally normed test. Our state uses the NWEA assessment platform and specific test bank questions that align with our state standards. From grades 3 and up the test with the NWEA company is called the Through Year. The K&1st grade students take their assessments on the iPads. Grade 2 uses their Chromebooks. At the end of the school year, we will send home a report for parents to see the changes in each testing interval of fall, winter and spring. Our final round of NWEA assessment for the year will take place from April 13-May 29th.
Here are some quick reminders for the month of February:
Report Cards will be sent home for our school on February 6th.
There is a Delay Start on Feb 11th.
The High School Empower Me group will be presenting a puppet show to our students on February 12th.
Since Valentines Day is on Saturday February 14th any classrooms enjoying a celebration making cards and sharing positive messages to classmates will be on Feb. 13th.
Thank you for your help and understanding during the month of January during our first month together as a school family. It is a real joy to focus on our work with our K-2 children and staff. Our wonderful school is all about the little ones…
Have a Great Weekend!
Peace and All good Things,
