MAINE SCHOOL ADMINISTRATIVE DISTRICT 49

Lawrence Primary School
68 School St. Benton, Maine 04907

June 2026

My Dear Parents and Guardians,

The school year is coming to a quick close since we did not have many storm days this winter! It’s ending almost a week earlier than usual....

We are dismissing K-2 students at noon on June 12th and pre-k dismissal will be at 11:30 on the last day. On the last day you can expect your child to bring home the final report card as well as this year’s scores on NWEA growth in math and reading.

We are already starting to get ready for the next year!

Our Lawrence Primary Teaching staff is spending a great deal of time thoughtfully preparing class placements for next year.  All teachers are working together to create balanced classrooms using the academic, social, and emotional information they have gathered throughout the year.

As a teaching staff we carefully consider each child’s learning style, peer relationships, strengths, and support needed.

To help make the transition feel more comfortable and exciting, our students will also participate in a Step-Up Day, on June 10th where the second graders will visit their new school, next door. Our current prek-1 will have a similar opportunity to meet the teachers in the next grade and hear all about it.

This experience will help our students learn about the future grade level learning as well as some of the new routines before the start of the school year!  We have some teachers moving to different grades for next year and possibly a couple new staff. On the step-up day, your child will bring home a letter from the teacher we have placed your child with.

Please know that a great deal of care goes into both the placement and transition process, and our goal is always to help students feel supported, confident, and successful as they begin the next grade!

We are also still accepting applications/registrations for Pre-k and K. If you have a child eligible for these grade levels, please give our office a call.
