My Dear Parents and Guardians,

If the rain holds out this afternoon our teaching staff has planned to have a float in the Lawrence High School Homecoming Parade that begins at about 5pm today. We are looking forward to surprising the students along the parade route!

Bus Safety will take place on the 5th and 6th. Even if your student doesn’t regularly take the bus this is important safety basics even, for field trips. We review bus procedures, routines and what to do in an emergency during the safety practice.

Parent Conferences will be held October 7th and 8th followed by a 4-day holiday weekend. There is no school on Friday October 9th through Columbus Day, the 12th. We return to school on the 13th.

The 13th-16th we will be marking Fire Prevention week with Fire Fighter Prevention visits for each of our classrooms.

Student of the Month Pod assemblies will take place from the 14th-16th and this month’s theme is friendship.

The PTO sponsored Trunk of Treat will take place in our parking lot from 11-1pm on October 24th and everyone is welcome to take part!

On the 26th there is no school for a Teacher in Service Day. Our teachers will be in training in the Regulated Classroom techniques. Regulated Classroom methods are evidence-based practices to help support connection and nervous system regulation. It is very much aligned to the natural breaks and movement breaks we do in our school, to help our children with nervous system regulation.  It also offers us some calming strategies, settlers and ideas for other positive reinforcers. We look forward to this valuable training.

October 28th, we have a special visit by Author Barry Lane. With him teaching, singing and leading we will have a Kindness Jamboree! Barry has written many books. He will be presenting his book entitled, Forcefield for Good, Teaching Kindness through Song and Literature. We look forward to his visit.

Peace and All Good!

Mrs. Lee
