Dear Staff, Students, and Families,
I am writing to inform you of two positive cases of COVID-19, one involving a student at Lawrence High School, and one involving a student at Clinton Elementary School. While there are no close contacts associated with the high school case, the Clinton case results in four staff members and seven students identified as close contacts. Both cases have been reported to the Maine DOE by our school nurses. I have spoken with an epidemiologist at the Maine CDC and confirmed the cases and reported close contacts involved. Those individuals have been notified.
We are notifying our community for your awareness. Please continue to assist us by informing the school when there is a positive case involving a student, even if the student has been absent from school for a period of days. Please be assured of our fervent commitment to health and safety. While mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing help to abate the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, monitoring for symptoms of illness, and staying home if you are sick are as vital to our ability to remain open. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Stay safe and be well.
Superintendent of Schools
