Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

I am writing to inform you of two positive cases of COVID-19 in the transportation department.  The MDOE and the Maine CDC have been notified.  These cases result in five individuals identified as close contacts.

We are notifying the community in an effort to keep all informed.  Director of Operations and Transportation Scott Washburn and his staff have worked diligently to coordinate safe and consistent transportation of students throughout this school year. Please be reminded of the importance to continue to monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.

As we approach the close of the school year, families will be hearing from principals about end of year events and activities. Gray Cohort students’ final class day is June 14, and Blue Cohort students’ is June 15.  Dismissal for grades 7-12 is 10:30 AM and elementary schools at 11:30 AM.

I appreciate every person’s efforts throughout this school year—thank you to our students, families and the entire MSAD 49 staff.  I hope the upcoming weeks of school are positive and productive, and that spring and summer are healthy and happy for all.

Stay safe and be well.

Roberta Hersom

Superintendent of Schools
