Dear Families,
Maine’s statewide “Bell to Bell Ban” policy requires all public schools to prohibit the use of personal electronic devices (such as cell phones and smartwatches) from the first bell to dismissal. Because the mandate takes full effect this school year, school districts must establish clear, consistent enforcement procedures by August 1.
To prepare for this shift, you are invited to an informational meeting:
Date:
Tuesday, July 7
Time:
6:00 PM
Location:
Lawrence Junior High Gymnasium
Meeting Details:
What to Expect:
Administrators will review the new state law, its specific requirements, and the upcoming school timeline.
Feedback:
The district is collecting family input to navigate the mandate while ensuring teachers can
focus on instruction and student learning rather than
policing device usage.
Next Steps:
Building administrators will follow up later in July to establish school-based discussion groups for both students and staff.
