LHS Good News 5/15/26
With the end of the year rapidly approaching, activities and opportunities abound for students at Lawrence. Juniors who signed up with Guidance will attend the College Fair at the Augusta Civic Center on Thursday. At the end of the month, on May 27, 2026, students have an opportunity to attend Colby College for the day as part of the Small and Rural Students (STARS) College Network to attend spotlight classes, take a campus tour and have lunch on campus and engage with a Maine student panel and participate in an admissions workshop. This event is geared toward both students and parents of underclassmen. There is a sign up sheet in Guidance for students and a permission slip that needs to be returned to the Guidance Office.
This past week students in Mrs. Lord’s Forensics class had an immersive crime scene lab set up in which they had to study the crime scene for clues to figure out what happened. After going through the crime scene they take their notes and observations and have to submit a lab report with their conclusions based on the evidence that they gathered.
The following students are going to the University of Maine for the All State Honors Music Festival this weekend: Graham Lynch, Brock Merrill, and Emma Spaulding. They will go from Thursday through Saturday. This is a select festival so admission to the weekend festival is a testament to the students’ musical abilities. You will have a chance to see and hear their talents as well as the rest of the choral and band students when they host our Spring Music Concert on Wednesday, May 27th at 6:30 PM in the Williamson Performing Arts Center.
Our Evening of Excellence is coming up on Wednesday, May 20th at 7:00 PM in the Williamson PAC. Invitations have gone out to notify parents of recipients. We look forward to recognizing the students at this event and hope you join us. There will be light snacks and refreshments following the event.
Athletics are in full swing. We have the Community Cup Track Meet here a week from Friday on May 27th starting at 3:00 PM. The athletes would love to see a big turnout of fans for this event.
