We've had a busy couple of weeks at Lawrence Elementary!
Fourth graders who participated in our Explorers Club took a trip to Sandy River, in Norridgewock, to release the salmon fry they've been raising in a specialized tank in our library. Each student was able to release one or two of salmon fry into the river, with hopes many will mature into Atlantic Salmon and one day return to our Maine rivers to spawn a new generation. Our Explorers were lucky enough to run into specialists from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, who were releasing 800 brown trout into the same river. We appreciate Mrs. Therrien, Mrs. Whited, and Mrs. Hachey, who have volunteered their time to lead this group.
Our fourth-grade chorus students recently performed on our Lawrence Elementary stage, while our fifth and sixth grade band and chorus students performed at the Williamson Performing Arts Center. Both groups sang and played joyful music in front of audiences filled with proud family, friends, and staff. Bravo to Mrs. Gorman, Mr. Hoagland, and our talented Bulldog musicians!
